Tyrol resorts will be closed until mid-may

News

Previously announced measures to ease the quarantine in Austria do not yet apply to popular ski resorts. In particular, Selden, Ischgl and neighboring resorts, as well as St. Anton, will be closed to tourists until at least mid-may. On the Ischgl website reported: “After reducing the number of cases of coronavirus in the Paznaun valley, the authorities have relaxed a number of restrictions that apply to our resorts. However, hotels, guest houses, guest houses and restaurants are still closed. According to official data, the entire tourist sector will be closed until at least mid-may. The exact start date of the resorts will depend on the number of cases of coronavirus in Austria.”

The glacier resorts of Tyrol, in particular, Selden and Hintertux, are currently closed and will not work either until at least mid-may. In Soelden and St. Anton, the quarantine is maintained, while in other localities in Austria, restrictive measures are gradually easing.
Since mid-March and at least until the end of April, Austria’s borders with neighboring countries remain closed. The list of reasons why residents can leave their homes is strictly regulated. you can only move if you need to, to the nearest store, to and from work, if necessary. Austrians are allowed to take short walks or jog, but at a social distance.
It is expected that from may 1, if there is no second wave of coronavirus in Austria, sports centers and facilities will gradually open. In particular, athletics arenas and stadiums, tennis courts, Golf courses, equestrian clubs and shooting ranges will start working. Fitness studios and centers will be closed for the time being, as will swimming pools.
Mountain resorts in Austria have not yet announced a date for possible resumption of work, but it is obvious that it will not be earlier than may 15-16, and this is at best. Selden offers flexible conditions for canceling or changing bookings for the summer season. In particular, for all bookings that have been / will be made through the official Otztal valley booking systems (oetztal.com, soelden.com, gurgl.com) free cancellation or modification of the reservation is available (7 days before the arrival date). A Deposit for summer bookings (before the beginning of October) is also not required – it will need to be paid a week before arrival. Thus, one of the most popular mountain resorts in Tyrol is trying to save the summer season, but it is still unclear exactly when it will be possible to come to Austria.
