ANNA FEIT WILL ANNOUNCE THE END OF HER CAREER IN THE COMING DAYS

News

8 months after the sensational news of the end of Marcel Hirscher’s career, another big name of Austrian skiing, apparently also announced his retirement from professional sports. According to the Austrian daily newspaper Kronen Zeitung, Anna Feit will officially announce her retirement in the next few days.

The owner of two Large Crystal Globes (2013/2014 and 2014/2015), the Olympic Champion of Sochi in the supergiant, as well as a three-time World Champion, has been injured quite often in recent years. The best result of the past season for Feit was the 7th place in the supergiant stage in Rosa Khutor, and the last podium in the career of the Austrian dates back to March 2018, when Anna took second place in the supergiant stage in Crans Montana.

Difficult path

Despite the fact that Anna Veit managed to reach heights that you can only dream of, her path to the most significant awards was marred by a series of serious injuries. The Olympic champion, three-time world champion and two – time overall world Cup winner has had two complex operations on her right knee and one on her left since October 2015. However, she continued to fight and never gave up. Last season was not easy – she only once got into the top 10 in the supergiant-at the stage in “Rosa Khutor” (Sochi), before that one took 8th place in the giant slalom in Semmering in December 2018 and the second-in the supergiant in Crans – Montana in March of the same year.

But Anna did not reach her former victories. So coveted second gold in the supergiant at the Olympics in Korea from Anna left very unexpectedly – only 1 hundredth of a second separated her from the victory, then she was ahead of Esther Ledecka. The Sochi Olympics will remain the pinnacle of her career – then Fenninger won gold in the supergiant and silver in the giant slalom.

For personal reasons?

Now the Salzburg native, better known to the skiing world by her maiden name Fenninger, is apparently going to draw a line under her career. Perhaps there are personal reasons for this difficult decision. Since April 2016, Anna has been married to former professional snowboarder Manuel Veit, and together they run the ARX hotel in Rormus near Schladming (Styria). And in recent months, she has been talking more and more about her family planning and her desire to have children.

The uncertain situation caused by the coronavirus crisis probably also influenced its decision. At the moment, no one can say when thousands of fans will be able to welcome their idols again, and when everything will return to the way it was before. Apparently, we will learn about Anna’s final decision very soon.
